One of GIG members asked me for suggestions on growing Microgreens. Thank you! Hope this is helpful! You will need: · Two 2in – 3in high trays. One to grow Microgreens in and the other as a lid. · Soil · Microgreen Seeds · Measuring cup · Purified water · Spray bottle · Small watering can Sow your seeds: 1. Add 1 inch of water to your tray. (This keeps the soil hydrated from bottom up) 2. Fill the tray with soil to the top. 3. Sow your seeds. Sprinkle them over the soil. Use LOTS of seeds. Microgreen plants don’t need much room to grow. (Experiment) 4. Most seeds DO NOT need a soil cover. Check directions on the seed package. 5. Water the seeds. Use spray and give them a good soak. 6. Cover the tray with the lid tray. Keep covered until they sprout and begin to grow. You will notice they are yellow in color and 1/2 - 3/4 in tall. Allow several days to sprout. 7. Make sure to water 2-3 times a day with spray bottle. Keep covered with lid. 8. After the 3 or more days, remove the lid. You do not need to keep them covered. Place tray in a window or outside and watch them grow! Continue to water 1-2 times a day. I use a small watering can. 9. I use my kitchen knife to harvest when the greens reach 2”-4” high. I harvest in 4-5 days….I live in a sunny warm climate most of the year. Tips: 1. I found trays that go under planters at Home Depot. (see photo) They work so well and not too large. If you have a family, you may want larger trays. 2. I purchase my seeds from True Leaf Market. You can purchase trays and there are starter kits available. Videos are helpful. 3. The measuring cup is handy to measure the amount of seeds. It will depend on the size of tray. I use at least 3-4oz. for my trays. 4. Some seeds like “Sunflowers” need to soak over night before you plant. True Leaf Market provides all the growing instructions on the website. 5.
