These angels come from both the good and evil side of things. Even though we have not laid out the character roles and assigned cast members to those roles we can say at this point that there in one type of supernatural being that we see, from scripture, on both sides of the heavenly war: princes. The Bible and other scriptures do not speak a lot about angelic or demonic princes. However, we do see in a conversation between Danial and an angel around Daniel 10th chapter.
Daniel 10:13-20 “But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia. 14 Now I am come to make thee understand what shall befall thy people in the latter days: for yet the vision is for many days. 15 And when he had spoken such words unto me, I set my face toward the ground, and I became dumb. 16 And, behold, one like the similitude of the sons of men touched my lips: then I opened my mouth, and spake, and said unto him that stood before me, O my lord, by the vision my sorrows are turned upon me, and I have retained no strength. 17 For how can the servant of this my lord talk with this my lord? for as for me, straightway there remained no strength in me, neither is there breath left in me. 18 Then there came again and touched me one like the appearance of a man, and he strengthened me, 19 And said, O man greatly beloved, fear not: peace be unto thee, be strong, yea, be strong. And when he had spoken unto me, I was strengthened, and said, Let my lord speak; for thou hast strengthened me. 20 Then said he, Knowest thou wherefore I come unto thee? and now will I return to fight with the prince of Persia: and when I am gone forth, lo, the prince of Grecia shall come.”
In these passages we find two princes mentioned: The Prince of Persia and the Prince of Greece. We Daniel tells us is that an angle has a message for Daniel that is requested to deliver post-haste. But an opposing angle known only as the Prince of Persia stands in this angel’s way, The prince blocks the angel from delivering the message for three weeks, until the archangel Michael intervenes.
Perhaps the most interesting thing scriptures tell us about this conflict is that conflict between princes is fierce enough to interfere with messaging from God to his prophet, Daniel, but is seems to not be overly concern to the whole heavenly host. The angel speaking to Daniel tells him that no other angel stood firmly against the other princes – only Michael.
We find in Daniel 10:13 above and in Daniel 12:1” And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.” that Michael is the guardian of Israel. So we find that Michael appears to be both an Archangel and a Chief Prince Angel.
