From the time of creation, humanity has been in a spiritual war. Even when God placed Adam and Eve into the Garden and told them to not eat of the Tree of Knowledge, He knew that because of the Universal Law of Thought and Freewill that Satan would tempt them by using the reasoning of the mind. As we know, they failed this test and placed humanity into a spiritual war that has passed throughout time even to today. The problem today is not with the war on the mind because that has been consistent throughout history. Our mind is no different from Adam and Eve, and, just like they did so do we, we either make decisions based upon whether or not we have surrendered to God or we are looking at the world for our guidance and control. Our problem today is that instead of starting with the knowledge of God, as Adam and Eve did, when we are born our programming begins with what our parents believe. This is permeated even further by our formal education and the bias of our teachers and even more permeated by the pastors in the pulpits who have sold out to the world instead of surrendering to God. So, it is the tools, used by Satan, and the implementation of those tools by his followers, that have created the enormous amount of evil we see in our society today. In order for us to fight this spiritual war, we need to become spiritual warriors. Just like soldiers fighting in combat with their weapons, we need to be soldiers in God’s army doing the same. For years many have prayed for our country and the world. We asked God to save us from all this evil. He finally came to our rescue but He needs an army. Some of this army will be soldiers armed for combat, some would be soldiers to confront evil using the sword (Word) of God and others would be the supply team feeding those that are on the front lines fighting the war. Combat soldiers are supplied by the God fearing patriots in our government and directed by our government as to the battles they must fight. Those soldiers on the front line confronting evil are fighting in our local communities – our civic government, our schools, our churches and in some cases family. God tells us in Ephesians 6:10-20 that we are to put on the whole armor of God. We are to prepare for battle and, when needed, we are to use the tools God has given us to use. In some cases it is actual weapons used by our armed forces and in others it is the Word of God. But the most important part of all this is to understand that, it doesn’t matter what part you are playing, it is God fighting through us. This can only happen if we have surrendered to God because God will not fight for us if we are on the fence or living in worldliness. The spiritual war we are in requires us to claim our sovereignty under God through surrendering to Him and then allowing Him to use us to fight the battle for that very given sovereignty we are claiming. We should look to Joshua and Nehemiah as examples of history figures in understanding just what we need to be doing today. Joshua took up the sword for an armed battle for Jericho and Nehemiah took up the sword of God’s word to fight his battle for saving Jerusalem. In both cases, the battle had to be fought in person with action by both Joshua and Nehemiah. We cannot continue to sit on the sidelines and seek others to do our part. If you have surrendered to God, God will fulfill His purpose for each one of us through us. If we are sitting on the fence or living by the guidance and control of the world (worldliness) then we are useless in this fight and from that we will reap that which we sow.
